Disc 1
Dragon Ruins and the East Desert Pass
The game starts off with Hiro and Ruby, as they are trying to pry one of the Dragon Eyes out of a statue. This prompts a set of traps to go off! The two of them quickly run out of the place while dodging the traps! Only outside do you have enough time to take a look at the Right Sapphire Jewel. Head south to leave the Dragon Ruins.
Just to the south of the Dragon Ruins you'll find the East Desert Pass. Right near the entrance you'll be able to see a statue. This statue is known as the Statue of Althena. Upon further inspection it heals all lost HP and MP! It also restores lost status too. Another thing to note at this point - you can save your game at any place on any map. This excludes battles though. Make heavy use of this feature - it is very easy to lose a battle! If it makes you feel better, plan on saving every five to seven battles. At the beginning of the game it should be done after every couple of battles. In any case, save your game now so you don't have to worry about re-watching the intro again. You can go directly to the save menu by pressing the Start button.
Head a bit to the southeast to battle two Dung Beetles and a Sand Cyclops. Besides boss battles and basic strategies, this will be the only in depth coverage of a battle in the guide. This is meant to get you used to the battle system in Lunar 2. Hiro is the only one that you control in the battle. Ruby flies in and breathes fire on a single opponent at the end of every round. This is how it works: by selecting attack, Hiro can only move a specific distance from his starting point. If, by the end of this move, he has not reached the target creature he'll just stop. If he gets to a creature he will make an attack. If he has any movement left, he'll make a second attack with the remainder of his movement. This can either be a second attack on the first opponent, or it can be a move and attack against a second opponent. As the game progresses, he will get more attacks and a longer movement. He can also use special attacks (these are listed and described in the Characters portion of the guide), items, defend, or even run if he has to. While defending half the damage dealt is negated. You can also use it to move Hiro to a new position, possibly to protect his friends, once they join the party! It can also be useful when you want the enemy to make the first move and come to you. Items are used like in all other RPGs. Running should be self explanatory. In the case of this battle, just attack one of the beetles on the first round, and use the next two to kill the Sand Cyclops. Don't worry about lost HP - you can heal at the Althena Statue. Also, don't forget to try out the Boomerang!
I'll try to make the directions as easy to follow as possible. I tend to use cardinal directions to describe where to head on any type of map in the game. When I say wall, I mean impassible barrier, be it a pit, a cliff side, or the tree line. It is impossible to get lost in the first part of this area. The path heads in only one direction. Follow it to the end, while killing all the enemies that you see. To the southwest of the statue you'll have a brief encounter with Lord Leo, commander of Althena's Guard. Soon enough he leaves. Now is a good time to return to the statue to heal. Now return to where the Dragonship Destiny was and head south to enter the second part of the East Desert Pass.
Once again you should go out of your way to beat the bad guys. This time you'll be able to get some treasure too! Follow the western wall to find a chest containing an Herb. Herbs heal 40 HP and are great to use at the beginning of the game, but they lose their effectiveness early on. Now keep following the eastern wall and soon enough you'll come across a second chest. This one contains 100 Silver. The exit is just to the south of the chest. You might want to consider re-entering the pass if Hiro hasn't reached level 7. His level 7 ability is very useful and will help in the times to come! When you are ready to leave the pass leave by the southern exit. Gwyn's place is to the northeast, around the mountains.
Gwyn lives in a small home from where he conducts his archeological surveys. Gwyn is in the house talking to Lord Leo. Head inside and talk to them. After you talk to them and have seen the Blue Spire with Gwyn, head to the basement and get the Ancient Dagger from the chest. As with any weapons or armor, don't forget to equip them as soon as you get them - they are useless while sitting in your inventory! Do some reading and then return to the ground floor to talk to Gwyn. He'll give you the Left Opal Jewel and will join your party. Now head north and approach the Blue Spire.
Blue Spire
Walk up to the dragon head. Gwyn uses the Left Opal Jewel, but the door still doesn't open. Walk up to the other eye and Hiro puts his jewel into the other socket - the door opens wide, allowing you to enter. The monsters here are much tougher here, so don't feel ashamed if you have to return home to heal, even after only a few fights. Head left at the first junction and follow the wall until you get to a switch. Push it to make a block move near the stairs to the second floor. There are two other switches to hit. The next one is to the north of the last junction. Hit it and then return to the first junction. Follow the right wall and hit the switch at the end. Keep following the right wall and open the chest to get an Angel's Tear. Then head across the bridge. Go to the right and hit the switch. It gets rid of the electrical current that flashes in the doorway that you just passed. Go there and kill the mummies - attack the purple one to make the rest disappear. Now you can climb up to the second floor.
Go down and go west at the junction. Go through the door and search the urn at the top of the screen. You'll have to do this a few more times. Head east at the junction and repeat the last procedure. back at the junction, head down and open the chest to get a Star Light. Head east and west to do the same urn-thing. Having gotten rid of the four balls of light, you can use the teleporter that is south of both junctions. It brings you to the next floor.
Go straight north and you'll get to see a short anime sequence.= of the Blue Spire. Continue going north and visit the Althena Statue. Further north you'll find the actual entrance to the Spire. There are two entrances to the next floor here - in both of the upper corners. There is also a chest near the upper left exit. Inside you'll find an Angel's Tear. Now climb the upper left stairs.
The two Crystal Knights that are found here deal a lot of damage. You'll have to plow through the Slimes to get to them first though. Go up either of the bottom flights of stairs. Go up the eastern flight of stairs on the next floor to get a Healing Nut. Go back down a floor and go up the western stairs to get a Herb. Return to the last floor and go up the central flight of stairs. You can pick up another Herb there from a partially hidden chest. Climb up either flight of stairs. Go to the northeast and get the Star Light from the chest. In the northwest corner there is 72 Silver in chest. Climb the nearby stairs.
The sixth floor of the Blue Spire is somewhat different than the rest. Save your game and head east. Climb the stairs. Gwyn will tell you to look for a secret passage. Just head north and step on the star. You'll be transported to a completely different place. Approach the green crystal to be treated with an anime scene that introduces Lucia. She transports you back to where Gwyn is and she joins the party. She has 777 HP and no combat stats. What a bummer. Save your game and go down the stairs. You'll be attacked by give Crystal Knights and you'll have to protect Lucia from them. Lucia kills them all in a single attack (only if she doesn't use her Atomic Burn attack)! Continue on your way down. You might want to attack all the enemies on the way down and have Lucia kill them all for you. There is nothing bad about getting free experience and Silver! Leave the Blue Spire once you get to the first floor.
When outside, sit back and watch a nice anime sequence, and then heal at the Statue of Althena. Save your game and head south to enter the labyrinth. There you'll encounter one of the Guardians. Even with Lucia in her cursed state this isn't a very difficult battle (when she is cursed she has but one HP and can't use her spells!). I suggest having Hiro charge in to keep it busy and using Gwyn's Shattered Sword ability twice, then Fractured Armor, followed by having him attack. After the Fractured Armor is cast, have Hiro use his Poe Sword technique to kill the thing. After the battle you should return to the Statue and heal. Save your game too. Continue on your way and exit the labyrinth. As you exit you'll be ambushed by four Guardians! Fortunately, halfway through the first round Lord Leo fires a shot that destroys the Guardians! He then tells you to get lost! A quick lie from Hiro sends Leo scurrying to the top of the tower. Leave the area.
Return to Gwyn's House. As soon as Gwyn leaves to look for a cure for the curse, talk to Lucia a few times to have him return. Gwyn leaves your party as soon as you leave the house. With Lucia in tow, save your game and hop on the boat. It's time to head to Larpa!
Larpa
The boat can only dock at a pier. So just head west and dock at the pier. The village of Larpa is to the south. Explore the town, buy weapons and talk to everyone. There is an Angel's Tear in a chest behind the Statue of Althena. There is a Healing Nut in a chest to the right of the mayor's house at the top of the town. It is hidden by the roof of the house there. Go down the stairs in the Sanctuary to find a Herb in a chest. Make sure to get the Saucepan Lid from the chest on the first floor of the mayor's house. Go to the Sanctuary and talk to the priests about Ronfar. Now save your game and head to the tavern. Talk to the guy in the upper right corner. Lose a couple of rounds of dice to him and then quit. Talk to him again and Lucia will collapse. He carries her to his place in the western part of town. Talk to him a few times in his house and Lord Leo drops by for a visit. He leaves after Ronfar protects you. After a short conversation he rolls the dice again. If he loses he will help you, otherwise he won't. I'm pretty sure that it is set up for you to win. Help Lucia out of bed and talk to Ronfar.
He joins your party. Buy him a weapon and some armour, if you can afford it. Go through the secret passage in the back of his home. Enter the cave. The enemies within are not that tough. With your new weapons they should fall in a single blow or two. The bees have a chance of poisoning anything that they hit. The poison wears off at the end of battle and does only minimal damage. Head north and open the chest to get 500 Silver. Then go through the door and up the stairs. Head down and out of the cave. Jump down and enter the Sanctuary. Go to the Statue. He tries to heal Lucia and fails miserably the first time. The second time he succeeds at lowering the effect of the curse. Return to Ronfar's home.
Come morning Lucia is gone! Talk to the man with the blue hair on top of the Statue of Althena to get Lucia's Bromide 1. Then head into his house and talk to his wife. Now head to the mayor's house and go to the second floor. Talk to him and then head to the sandships. Lucia is standing by one of the docks. Talk to her and after a short anime scene, she leaves the party. Ronfar rejoins your group. Save your game, buys some equipment and leave town.
West Desert Pass and Dalton
Head northwest to find this pass. All the enemies are tougher than the last group. The Scorpions are extra tough and take many hits to kill. Most of the enemies here can poison you. Head north and open the chest to get 300 Silver. Keep heading north to leave the pass. Save your game before heading north and entering Dalton.
As soon as you enter the place you'll see a confrontation between Lord Leo and Lucia. She loses the battle. There is an Herb in a chest near the entrance to the city. Buy new gear in the shops. In one of the houses you can pick up a Star Light. It costs 100 Silver to pray to the Statue of Althena. When you have finished your business in town, head to the one place with an open door. Go through the eastern door. Climb the stairs to get a Dagger. Go through the eastern door when you are ready for a big battle and have saved the game.
Go into the ship's northern door and then through the door to the left of the statue. Go down the hallway and attack the guard. The guard is really strong, so make sure you use your special moves on him! Further on you'll have to battle a second Private. The Captain is further down the hall. He isn't much harder to beat than the last two guys. Return to the Statue of Althena and save your game. Now return to the Captain and go down the stairs.
You'll have to fight more guards on the next floor. Head north and beat the guard into the floor. Do the same to the southern guards - yes guardS. Fighting two of them is a bit more difficult, so try your hand at the Destiny Dice, if you have that skill! Further down the path you'll have to battle another Captain. To the west there are another pair of Privates. Beat them up, as well as the pair of foes just to the north, then return to the Statue of Althena to recover lost health. Then go down the stairs. Open Lucia's cell by hitting the orange button. With Lucia in tow, return by the way you got to the cell. Now leave the city of Dalton.
The Forest of Starlight and Illusion
Head northeast to enter the woods. Keep following the right wall to get a Herb. Return to the first junction and head north. Head north and then west to get 600 Silver from a chest. Now head east and exit the part of the forest. You'll find yourself at the foot of the Star Dragon Tower. Talk to Lucia a few times and then heal your party. Save your game before you head to the west and into the next section of the forest.
Talk to the guy at the entrance to the Illusion Woods to find out how to make your way through the place. At the northern edge of this section of the woods there is a Herb in a chest. In the lowest thicket there is a Herb. The northeastern one leads to the next area.
There is an Herb in a chest right in the center of the area. There is a Star Light in a chest in a thicket right near to it. There is a Snake Crest in the Upper left thicket. The exit is in the upper right thicket.
There is another Herb in a chest here. There is 146 Silver in a chest in the thicket to the right of the Herb. There is a suit of Chain Mail in the right thicket, just to the north of the 146 Silver. The exit is in the northwest corner.
You'll come across a caravan of performers in the next area. To the right you'll find a spring, a Statue of Althena, as well as a Life Jewel in a chest. Talk to the caravan master and Jean, the dancer, will walk off to the left. Go talk to her and she beats up a monster to save Lucia. The next morning, you should head to the spring and have some fun watching the anime scene. There is a pair of Iron Clogs on the man's side of the bath. Save your game, then return to the center of the caravan. A monster appears and snatches the performers and drags them beneath the earth. Talk to Jean to get the Rope Ladder. Use it to climb into the hole. Jean joins your party.
When underground just head west. Go through the door. Head west in the next area as well. There you'll be confronted by Plantella. This plant monster has three forms. It changes form after you have dealt several hundred points of damage to it. In its first form it sends a vine down to attack a single character for about 40 damage. In its second form it tends to spit out thorns that do about 40 damage to all your characters. Its last attack is the most devastating! It deals about 80 damage to a single character with a piercing root attack. Have Ronfar heal your party, and use Hiro's Poe Sword and Jean's Moth Dance to attack him. It takes a lot of damage to kill the thing. Jean joins the group after the thing dies. Near where the vines were, talk to the woman to get Jean's Bromide 2. Now leave by that entrance. Head down the road and enter the town at the end.
Takkar and the Mountain Pass
While searching town, make sure you pick up the Star Light from the chest next to the Bounteous Babes Inn. There is a Passion Fruit in the tavern. Buy new weapons and armour, then talk to the hooded chick in the bar. Talk to the guard at the gate. Head to the eastern gate and go through it. You'll find yourself in a mountain pass.
Follow the path. There are some apes on the road that throw rocks at you. They are easy to avoid. They do some minor damage to you, if you are hit. On the way you'll pass a chest with a Purity Ring in it. Take it. At the first junction take a left to get a Wind Ring. Now head the rest of the way up the mountain side. Enter the Ghost Manor.
The enemies in the manor are tough - especially the Susie Deaths. They have a high resistance to physical attacks. To kill them the easiest, just use magic abilities on them that shade them green - not red. Head right to get a Holy Water from a chest. Return to the entrance and go up to get an Angel's Tear. Now return to the entrance again and head all the way to the left and up the passage to get 302 Silver from a chest. Now go up the only unexplored passage. Beat up the rock creature and grab the Star Light from the chest. Go down at the junction and up at the next one. Grab the Herb from the chest and then go north. Follow the new passage and grab the Star Light from the chest. Save your game, then head into the top room.
A boss battle begins against the Magic Tester LX1. I found this boss really tough to beat. Maybe it was because I didn't want to use my expensive Star Lights... In any case, this boss has three forms. It has four different attacks. It changes forms after a certain amount of damage has been dealt. First its drum explodes, then its feet explode. In all three forms it has a bubble attack that deals little damage, but it can also put a character to sleep! Sleeping characters take more damage than usual from all attacks since they can't defend themselves. In its first form it uses its drum to deal about 50 points of damage to a single one of your characters. Its second form allows it to jump onto a zone of your characters for about 50 damage. Its last attack is an eye laser that only the third form can use. The eye laser deals about 50-60 damage to all characters that are standing directly in front of it. The trick to winning this battle is to keep healing your characters. When not healing, Ronfar should use his Anger Dice. At all times, when possible, Jean should use her Moth Dance and Hiro should use his Boomerang. The thing must have over 2,000 HP, so it is bound to be a long fight.
After the battle, the red-hooded chick appears and unveils herself. She is none other than Lemina, a traveling mage that wants to sign you up into her guild. All she cares for is money! She leads you out of the manor and tries to carry you off the cliff side with disastrous effects. Luckily for you, there is a Statue of Althena at the bottom. You can also visit Takkar's North Gate. There is a merchant there that sells you healing items. Stock up and then head to the western cave.
Bandit Butte, Nota and the Carnival
The enemies here are really tough. Lemina's magic is extremely helpful here, so make sure that you use it - especially on the Parasites! Climb the mountain pass and get the Shiro Crest from the chest. Continue going north and go through the door. Follow the path to the west. Go in the small cave door. Head east to get a Star Light. Head south to get to the exit. Be warned - there are lots of enemies guarding it! When outside again just follow the path. Head east at the junction to find a chest containing a Wind Staff. Return to the junction and head south. You'll leave the mountain pass soon enough.
Nota is to the north of the mountain pass. When you enter, beeline for the weapon shop and upgrade all your stuff. There is a Gauss's Necklace in the mayor's house. You'll also get a glimpse of the Rememberizer Crystal. There is a Silver Light in a chest right outside of the weaponshop. There is an Herb in a chest in the vicinity of the shops too. As you cross the bridge you'll get chased away by Lord Leo's men. Quickly run to the town exit. The Carnival is to the northeast.
There is a chest containing Holy Water in the first section of the Carnival. There is an Angel's Tear in the right wagon in the northern section of the Carnival. Talk to Giban who is in the northwest corner. The guard arrives and he diverts them for you. When Lucia is changing, take a peek - it is so much fun! Afterwards, talk to the Magic Arrow operator to go for a flight - but... in the totally wrong direction!
Mystic Ruins and Zulan
Luckily for you, you land in the Mystic Ruins, the ruins that the people of Nota were saying had no entrance. Turns out that Lucia can open the seal that is at the top. Step on the flashing seal to enter the ruins. A really cool sequence of the end of the first game is shown, and a meeting with Ghaleon take place! Leave the room after all this has taken place. Heal at the Statue, then go down the stairs.
The next room is a maze of moving platforms. Plus, the enemies here are really tough against physical attacks - use Lemina's magic to kill them. Use the platforms in the following order - down, left, left. Then go to the left and get the Healing Nut from the room. The Knights are really strong, so make sure you kill them as fast as possible. Exit the room and go up, up, down and to the right to get a Dream Crest. Exit the room and go left, then down to get to the stairs leading to the next floor.
Go right, left to get a Flame Staff. Return to the start of the floor. Go up twice and right to get a Star Light. Return to the start of the floor. Go left, up and left to get a Star Light. Leave the room. Go up, right, down, up to get to the stairs. You'll be in a secret fairy garden. Lucia can open the seal on the southern door. Leave the place.
Head west and the Dragonship Destiny arrives to waylay you. For some reason Ghaleon helps you out and you can return to Nota. Now you can cross the bridge. Buy new supplies in the shops. There are some Peasant Clothes in one of the houses in town. There is a life Jewel in this part of town. To get it, head east from the item shop and then north, under the bridge. There is an Herb in the chest near the town's exit. Head north and into the ice fields.
Enter the town of Zulan. Buy new weapons (if you can afford them!) and go to the Statue of Althena. To the west there is a chest containing a Star Light. There is a suit of Plate Armor in the mayor's house. Talk to the mayor and agree to help the town. Lucia leaves the party and leaves it up to you to help the poor townspeople! Now leave the town via the northwestern exit.
First of all, I suggest spending some time and getting some cash from these enemies before going on in the game. The gold you get should be used to upgrade to the best stuff available in Nota and Zulan. Plus, the experience will help a lot too. The enemies are all weak to fire spells, so make sure you make heavy use of them! The Razor Wolves are really hard. If one of them is spinning, make sure to use all your power to beat them up ASAP - otherwise they'll hit your party for more than 50 damage! This is devastating when there are two or more that are about to do it!
Go up the first two flights of stairs and walk up to the ice block. Ruby can melt it with her fire breath. Enter the cave and get the 2,000 Silver from the chest. Go up the next two flights of stairs to the east to get a Healing Nut. Go back down the stairs and down the eastern stairs too. Go down another flight of stairs and then head east. Head up the stairs and out of the cave.
Head west and go up the stairs. Melt the first ice block and defeat the enemies that come from the now open cave. Melt the next block and enter the cave. Head west and climb the stairs. Head east and climb the stairs. Head west and open the chest to get a Power Crest. The Power Crest enhances the other crest worn by a character. Go down the stairs and through the door.
Head east to get a Water Staff. Head west and melt the ice block to find another monster's lair. Climb the western stairs and melt the two blocks of ice. The right one is a lair, and the left one is a cave. Enter it. Once inside head east and pick up the Barrier Ring. Equip it to either Ronfar or Lemina. Go down the stairs and out the door. Go up the stairs and melt the ice block. Go through the door. Go west and an avalanche wipes you off of the mountain side. When you get up, Lucia is there to help and heal you. Pick up the rest of the party. Save the game, then head north and battle the boss.
It's a good thing that you got to heal before this battle! You'll need most of your MP for this battle. The Missing Link has a powerful avalanche attack that deals 70 damage to all your characters. It only does it, if it starts the round off in the position shown in the picture. If it bangs its chest it is about to use an 80 point zone attack. It usually targets the closest character, most likely Hiro. Its last action is a defensive one. If it starts drawing in air, it is about to raise a defensive shield. The shield prevents it from all damage for a few rounds. I suggest attacking it with Hiro's sword for the first round, then with his Poe Sword. Ronfar should always cast Calm Litany and Jean should be ready to clean status abnormalities. Otherwise, she should attack his with her fans. Lemina should use Flame or Flame Shot and Power Flame when its shield is up. This battle isn't too hard and it won't take too long to win. After the battle with the Missing Link, head west and talk to the woman. You'll be brought back to Zulan after the battle.
Talk to the mayor and resolve the problem with Maria. Afterwards, leave the town by the lower left corner and head south to get to get to Meribia.
Meribia and Taben's Peak
Make sure to buy weapons and armour in Meribia. There is a Life Jewel in a chest west of Ramus' shop. There is an Herb in a chest in the southeastern section of town. Talk to Ramus' grandfather a few times to get Lemina's Bromide 3. Lemina's Bromide 2 is in one of the barrels in the northwestern part of the shop. You can get Jessica's Bromide from a man in the tavern. Afterwards it is time to visit the dojo and talk to Master Lunn. Make sure you pick up the Earth Crest before or after you talk to Master Lunn. He'll tell you of the bandits of Taben's Peak. Now leave town and head east to Taben's Peak. I really suggest leveling up a bit while earning enough cash to upgrade all your stuff! It will really help...
To the east from the entrance there is a roadblock on the road to Vane. Instead, you should go north and up the ladder. On the way you'll meet the head of the thieves, Nall. Ignore what he says and just go up the ladder anyway. The enemies here are reminiscent of the Haunted Manor. Use the same strategies from there to defeat the enemies. Ice magic works wonders on them. It is very easy to find your way here, so I am going to forego the directions. There is an Herb in the western part of the first area. To the east of the ladder out of this area, hidden in the trees, there is a Legendary Lid, a powerful shield. After the confrontation with the children, go up the ladder. There is a Thunder Staff is in the second area, to the east of the exit. In the next little area you'll have be hit by pepper-spray. The antagonists run away again. Follow them out.
Right away you'll be able to pick up a Luck Ring. Go up the stairs and pick up the Spirit Mace. Go up the stairs. You'll meet Nall again. You'll get captured and thrown in a cell. In the morning you are allowed to wander around. There is a Cute Ribbon to be found on the second floor. There is an Herb out on the balcony. Nall and Lucia are on the third floor. Talk to them and head out to the playground when the trouble erupts. Later, Nall takes Lucia hostage and tells you to rescue the children. Use the gondola to get to the base of the fort, and then head to Meribia.
Make sure you have all the newest weapons and armor. Some Healing Nuts and Herbs will also help. Go to Ramus' shop and go through the door near his grandfather. The enemies in the sewers are weak to fire magic. In the sewers, head west and then keep following the passage to get a Star Light. Backtrack and press the button as soon as you find it. Go over the new bridge and head east. Go in the small room, pick up the Steel Shield and push the button. Return to the last bridge and head north across a second bridge. Head east and enter the small room to get a Dew Ring. From there, head south, west and then north to get a Quake Staff. Then head south, east, and north. Pick up the Soul Bandanna and push the button. Now go south, west, south, west and push the button.
Now go east past the bridge. then south and down the eastern bridge. Grab the Silver Light from the chest. Go north, west and south. Open the chest to get a Steel Helm. Go west, north, then push the button. Go south, then west and open the chest to get a Healing Nut. Go west, north, push the button and get the two Star Lights. Go over the bridge and get the Silk Dress from the chest. From here you can do two things. You can leave the sewers, heal, and come back, or you can save and enter the door right by the last button. I suggest the former. Above that door there is a bridge that brings you back to the door leading to Ramus' shop.
As soon as you head south, you'll have to battle some Assassins, four to be precise. The Assassins aren't tough. Freeze Claw and Butterfly Dance are great on them, since they are weak to both. Have Ronfar heal and use Hiro's Poe Sword to beat them the easiest. They each have 550 HP. After the battle, the boss runs away, leaving the children and his Mask behind. Then follow the kids. Leave Meribia and head to Taben's Peak. Use the gondola and talk to Nall. Once possible head to the playground to pick up Lucia. Then return to Nall and go through the southern door. When outside, he'll ask you to wait. He gives you the White Dragon Wings. Then use the gondola and go through the path where the barricade was.
Vane and the Sluice Forest
Once out of the forest, head to the town. You'll be refused entry. Now go to the small pond south of the city. It is a magic transporter to Vane, which isn't operational anymore. Talk to the guys there to get Mia's Bromide. Now step on the pentagram to warp to the Cave of Trial.
There are five floors to this place. The enemies are not too difficult, aside from the huge amounts of damage that they deal. If you can forget that, then you won't have any problems. I suggest clearing each floor of its enemies. If you do kill all the creatures, you'll find the door very easily. It is to the northwest of the transportation pentagram.
The same goes for the second floor. It doesn't hurt to destroy everything on it! The stairs going up are to the southwest. The stairs on the next floor are just to the east. On the fourth floor (B2) the stairs are to the northwest. The exit on the fifth floor is to the south. You'll emerge in the city of Vane.
Buy some new weapons and armor. Visit the library and pick up Lemina's Bromide 1. It is on one of the shelves in Lemina's section of the library. You might also have some fun reading the books there. Now it time to head to the mansion. Talk to Borgan, then to Lemina on the roof. When she returns to the party, she lets you open the chests! In the mansion you'll find Lemina's Purse (increases the amount of gold you get from a fight) and the Gorgon Doll. In town there is a Seal Crest and a Thunder Crest. There is a Silver Light and an Angel Ring in the library. Now it is time to leave town.
Head south and enter the Sluice Forest. The enemies are a bit tougher here. They are weak to a variety of spells, so make sure that you use that to your advantage. Just head north in the first area. In the second area, head north and open the chest down the left branch. You'll get a Vigor Ring. Now go east and then north. Pick up the Star Light from the chest. Head north and then west. Open the chest to get a Warrior Crest. Head north and into the next section of the forest.
Heal and then go up the stairs. You'll have to break for the night, and Hiro gets to have a little fun peaking at Lucia... In the morning, cross the water and head south to Azado.
Azado
There is a Safety Helmet in one of the homes. There is an Angel Ring near the weaponshop. To get it you'll have to walk around the shop. While you are there, you should buy some weapons and armor. When you are ready, leave the town by its northern exit. Enter the temple and talk to the high priest (he is standing by the Statue). Afterwards, head into town and talk to the person in front of the red-roofed house. Talk to Balse a few times. He lets you stay at his home until nightfall.
After night falls go west to the docks. Board the ship - it turns out to be the Dragonship Destiny! Fire starts to fall on Azado. At that point Leo frees both Hiro and Ronfar. He joins them and asks them to lead him to Balse's home. Fighting with only three characters is kind of rough, but you should be able to manage them. Remember that there is a Statue of Althena that you can use at any time. Head to Balse's house and talk to him. Then head to the Sanctuary. force your way in and use the Statue. Keep climbing stairs until you reach a larger room. Go east and then down the stairs. Make sure that you get the Star Light from the chest first.
Keep climbing down the stairs until you find a pair of chests. There is both a Healing Ring and a Healing Crest in the chests. Use the White Dragon Wings to get back to the starts. Go back and use the Statue of Althena. Now return to the ninth floor and go up the stairs this time. There is a Healing Nut in a chest. Go up the stairs. Pick up the Silver Light from the chest on the eleventh floor. Heal, then go out onto the roof.
Get closer to the flame. As you approach it, it turns into a Flame Fang and attacks! Get ready for an easy battle! It has several fire-based attacks that attack all, one, or just a zone of your characters. Just have Ronfar use Calm Litany over and over again, while Leo uses his Flash Blade and Hiro uses his Poe Sword. After about ten rounds the battle will be over. Quickly return to the Dragonship Destiny. Leo will agree to take you to the Holy City

Disc 2
The Holy City, Pentagulia
Get off of the Destiny and talk to Leo. Ghaleon arrives and save some really interesting things. Talk to your friends and they all leave you to find the heroes. With just Lucia and Ruby in tow, head to the top of the shrine and talk to Leo. You are admitted to see Althena, but Lucia claims that she is an imposter. Soon enough Hiro is pitted against Ghaleon in one-on-one battle! It is impossible to win this battle, so try to do as much damage as possible, so you can have at least a shred of dignity!
Some time later Hiro wakes up in a cell. Leo, er... Mystere, comes to save you. He tells you how to get to the others' cells. With Mystere in tow, leave the cell. In the next area, pick up the Healing Ring from the chest. Go down the stairs. From here on out you are going to have to fight soldiers. They are not that difficult to kill - I was just telling you that they are there! There is a Platinum Blade in the chest, but there are some soldiers that guard it - like every other such room in the towers. After you get it, go down the stairs. There is a Life Jewel in the chest. Get it before going down again. On the next floor, just head to the stairs. You'll be able to heal on the next floor. Go down the stairs after you have saved the game.
The underground passage is easy to navigate. The White Tower is in the northeast, the Black one is in the southeast, the Blue one is in the southwest and the Red one is in the northwest. Between the two northern ones there is a Statue of Althena. I recommend entering the Red one first.
In the Red Tower, go up three flights of stairs. On the next floor there are two chests for you to open. You'll get a Silver Light and the Hellfire Staff. Go up two more floors and rescue Ronfar. Return to the underground passage. It is time to head south to the Blue Tower.
The Blue Tower is a lot like the Red one. You just have to fight your way up and rescue Jean. There is a Jewel Gauntlet on the third floor. On the fourth floor there is a Ritual Hairpin. In any case head to the sixth floor and rescue Jean. Return to the underground passage and head to the Black Tower.
The Black Tower is like the last two. Lemina is at the top. On the second floor there is a Jewel Gauntlet in a chest. On the fourth floor there is a Ritual Hairpin in a chest. Rescue Lemina from her cell on the sixth floor. Leo leaves the party as soon as all four have been rescued. Return to the underground passage. On the way, Leo joins the party as himself. Return to the Statue of Althena in the underground passage and go through the secret passage.
Keep following the passage, even after you have heard some of Althena's plans. They pretty much herd you to where you have to go by just giving you a single passage to follow. Ghaleon reveals some more plans, Leo runs off to see Althena, and Hiro rescues Lucia. Follow her to the top floor of the shrine and then to the balcony. Follow her over the railing. You'll be standing before the fifth tower of Pentagulia. Unfortunately, you cannot enter the tower. The fake Althena, Mauri, Borgan and Lunn arrive to surround you. The White Dragon Wings flash, and you get teleported elsewhere...
The White Dragon
Taben's Peak! Talk to Nall to learn of his past encounter with Ghaleon. Get your party back in order - it is time to head to Vane to meet up with Leo! Hop aboard the Destiny and talk to Leo. He'll challenge you to a one-on-one fight. Leo is an easy opponent. Only four strikes from your Poe Sword knocks him out. Sometimes he uses a Passion Fruit to heal all damage that he may have taken. Use Healing Nuts whenever you drop below 100 HP. He gives you the White Dragon Aura after you beat him. Leo gives you the Destiny and then leaves. Take the Destiny to Meribia and drive off the beach into the water. Head west and land at the other beach. Disembark and go down the mountain trail. Enter the cave at the end of the path.
Nall greets you as soon as you enter his cave. He tells you to get the four treasures, then to meet him in his lair. The enemies here are all weak to fire, so make sure that you punish them all with it! Just to the south of the entrance there is a block of ice blocking the path. Ignore it for now and just follow the single path. Bypass the stairs and open the chest to get a Star Light. Now go down the stairs and then up the western stairs. Follow the new path and open the chest on the way to get a Snake Ring. Now continue down the path. Ignore the stairs and head as far south as you can go. Then head east and go into the door.
In the second area, just head west at the first junction - the other two paths lead nowhere. At the next junction head west and open the chest to get an Endurance Ring. Then head south. Head east at the junction and follow the path. Climb the stairs at the end.
There are ice blocks blocking your path here. Here is how you get by them - the enemy apes can charge through them. So just wait until they do so. There are a pair of chest in the southern section of this area that can be gotten this way. You'll get a Chiro Crest and a Wind Crest. The Chiro and Shiro Crests work wonders when equipped at the same time! Now head through the northern door.
In the next area you'll find out that those little puppies can also break through the ice while spinning. You can use this right away to get an Angel Ring from a chest. The door to the next area is in the northeast. Turns out that the crystals can also destroy the ice blocks. Let them, then destroy the crystals! There is an Ice Staff in the chest. Go through the northern door.
To the south there is a Vitality Vial in a chest. To the east there is a fake White Dragon to kill! Go for it! But heal first... The White Fiend is weak to fire spells. When it has a small circle that grows and shrinks beneath it, it is about to use its breath weapon, which isn't very powerful. When it has a magic circle beneath it, it is about to use a stat increasing spell that raises both its attack and defense scores. Use Dispel Magic to get rid of it. When it has no circles, it uses an ice breath that deals a lot of damage, but only when its head is down. If its head is high it spits out some ice that hits a group of targets and does a lot of damage! I used Flame Shot and Poe Sword (increased with Lemina's Power Flame spell) to kill it. Ronfar just healed as normal, with Lucia pitching in every now and again. Jean helped heal and used her regular attacks. Head through the door after the battle.
Talk to Nall and throw the White Dragon Aura at the crystal (just walk to the ledge and hit X). He gives you the White Dragon Crest and heads out to melt some icebergs for you. Now you can either walk out on your own, or you can teleport. I wanted the cash and experience, so I decided to walk out. Return to the Destiny and head south the village of Horam.
The Blue Dragon
In Horam you can buy new supplies. To the west of the entrance you'll be able to find a Star Light. There is a Protection Ring behind the item shop. You can get a pair of Blue Pajamas from the upstairs of the dojo, whose students all claim to be sick. There is an Herb on the right side of the Blue Dragon Fist school of martial arts. On the other side there is a Life Jewel. After you have healed, bought new weapons, armor and supplies, and have saved, head into the Blue Dragon Fist dojo.
There is a pair of Rubber Boots in the room in the upper left corner of the dojo. Talk to Wong-Lee after you have gotten the boots. Jean agrees to battle Lunn for the dojo. She gets a change of attire and an Invitation to the tournament. She gets some new skills as well, as well as equipment! Now leave town and head south using the Destiny. Enter the Zen Zone.
Talk to the guard to get admitted. Talk to the contestants and then talk to the guy standing by the right stairs to start your match with the Assassin Fist Karate. This battle is easy. Rest at the Statue after the battle. Then talk to the guy again to start the battle with the Wolf Karate group. This battle is a little harder than the first, but should still not pose any problems. Heal again after this battle and then talk to the guy to start the battle with Lunn's Shadow Assassins. This battle is easy if you can concentrate on just one guy at a time! After the battle heal your party and save.
Talk to Lunn a few times to pick a fight with him. Only Jean fights him. I suggest summoning a Doppelganger and then using her Blue Dragon Palm, healing when necessary. Sometimes he heals himself and raises his own defense. It isn't enough to stop you from whooping his ass! After you cream him, he gives you the Blue Dragon Aura. Heal and then board the Destiny. Head to the northwest and enter the Blue Dragon Cave.
Go directly north and through the door in the first area of the cave. The enemies here are mostly weak to fire. The big ships run away really quickly, so try to focus powerful attacks on them. Head around the cave wall and jump across the chasm with help from the ledges. Go east and pick up the Hurricane Staff. Then head further east and go down the stairs. There is a vial of Holy Water in a nearby chest. Grab it, then head west and use the small platforms to go south. Go down the eastern stairs.
Go south and get the Anti-Magic Ring from the chest. Then head east and go down the stairs. Head west and open the chest to get an Angel's Tear. Now head south and go down the stairs. On the next floor, go west and grab the Angel Ring. Then go east and use the platforms to get across the underground lake. Go west when you are on the other side and grab the Plasma Ring from the chest. Now return to the east and when possible, go north and up the stairs. Go east, then north and finally west. Open the chest to get a Gold Hairpin, then continue going west. There is a Star Light in the visible chest. Grab it. Then heal and save your game. The boss is to the west.
The Blue Fiend is your next foe. when it seems to draw in breath from up above, it is in fact getting ready to use a really strong wave attack. When it is just standing like in the picture, he is getting ready to attack a group of characters with a breath weapon. If it has things growing out of its head, he is about to make it rain heroes - for a lot of damage! When it has a magic symbol under it, it is about to heal itself of more than 1200 HP! I used Blue Dragon Palm, Flame Shot and Poe Sword to do all the damage, and Tranquil Litany to heal. The battle lasted seven rounds for me. After the battle, head west and go through the door. Throw the Blue Dragon Aura at the crystal to free the Blue Dragon. He gives you his support and the Blue Dragon Crest. Teleport out of the dungeon. Heal in town, then take the Destiny for a spin around the Blue Dragon Cave. Head south until you see Neo-Vane flying above you. It fires at the Destiny and paralyzes it. You are now stuck there!
The Black Dragon
Get off of the Destiny and head west. Enter the Zaback Mines. Head east past the junction and head south. Open the chest to get a Silver Light. Go to the southeast and then north. Get the Passion Fruit from the chest, then go down the nearby stairs. Go west and then south at the junction. Go to the south, east, then north to get a Fresh Ring. Go east, and then south until you get an Angel's Tear from a chest. Then head north, east, and north again. Climb the stairs.
Go to the south, west, north, west, south and east to get a Rusty Dagger. Then go west, north, west, and north to get a Star Light. Return to where you got the Rusty Dagger and go north to get to the exit. On the first floor of the mines, head south to get 92 Silver. Then return to the stairs and go west, south, east and open the chest to get an Earth Ring. Go south, east and due south to find the exit.
Once you exit you'll find yourself in Zaback. There is a Passion Fruit in one of the houses. There is a Life Jewel on one of the elevated parts of town. Buy new weapons and armor. Make sure that you both heal and save your game before using the transporter in the western part of town to go to Neo-Vane. When you are ready, use it! Enter the building and talk to the chick within. She'll test your party for magic ability. Ronfar and Jean fail the test. The rest can enter Neo-Vane.
There is a Life Jewel in the weapon shop. While you are there buy some new weapons and armor. There is a Luck Ring in the lower right house. After you bought this stuff, enter the town wall to the west of the mansion. In the cave, use magic on the scorpions. Head north and pick up the Healing Ring. Then go south and follow the western path and go down the stairs. Talk to Ronfar to have him join the party. Go east and pick up Jean. Go south and down the stairs.
Head north. Ignore the stairs going down, and go west instead. Pick up the Clear Ring, then return to the stairs going down. Descend the staircase. Go west until you get to a chest. There is a Star Light in it. Go south and open the chest there. Grab the Earth Staff and go down the western stairs. On the next floor, go west and get the Silver Light from the chest. Go to the southeast, then go west. Keep going in a western direction until you find a tunnel heading to the north. Follow it to the end and save your game before going through the portal. Step on the transport pad.
You'll end up in Borgan's mansion. Use the statue, then go up the stairs. Now head over to Borgan. Talk to him a couple of times to start the battle! You get to battle him with your entire party. When he holds his staff in his left hand he is about to drain a lot of MP from a single character - ouch! He might also opt to attack a single character for a little damage and a chance of putting him to sleep when he is holding the staff in this manner. When it is in both hands, he is about to use a terrifying attack that deals between 150 and 200 damage to all characters! Using Ice Arrows, Poe Sword and Blue Dragon Palm, this battle shouldn't last more than five rounds. Ronfar, as always, should stick to healing the party. Head upstairs once the battle is over and you have gotten the Black Dragon Aura. Head upstairs again to find Lemina's mother. Neo-Vane sinks, but Lucia saves it from a crash landing. Talk to Borgan to get the Cave Key. Buy any missing weapons and armor, then use the teleporter to return to Zaback.
Enter the Mines. Go to the north, then west and then all the way to the north, Open the door and go down the stairs to enter the Black Dragon Cave. The Zombies are fast, but should only require one hit to kill - awesome, aren't they? Head south, then to the southwest to get a Healing Nut. Then go to the northeast to find a Lightning Staff. Return to the last junction and go to the southeast. Keep going to the northeast and go down the stairs. Go south, then west when possible. Be warned of the many enemies in the room! Pick up the Force Ring and the Angel Ring. Head west, north and finally east to get a Star Dagger. now head west and then south. Go down the stairs.
Head to the west. Stepping on the purple stuff makes you lose some life. Go south, then to the northeast to get 312 Silver. Return to the large room and go to the southeast. Go to the north, then the northwest, and go down the stairs. Head east and go down the stairs. Head south and open the chest to get an Angel's Tear. The go northeast and go up the stairs. Go to the southeast to get a Passion Fruit. Then go southwest and west to get a Hunter Crest. Return to the last junction and head southeast over the purple goop. Keep following the passage to the west, then north and descend the stairs at the end. Head south, then southeast on the next floor. Go to the west, then north and up the stairs. Go to the west and get the Star Light out of the chest. Equip yourself with anti-paralysis items (Ronfar first). Heal, save your game, and charge the Black Fiend!
The Black Fiend is a bitch to kill. It is almost immune to physical attacks, so it means that Jean is out of the fight, so use her for healing. When its wings are apart it is about to use an attack that drains MP from all your characters. When its wings are together and its head is low, it is about to use a beam attack that hits a group of characters for almost 200 damage! When its wings are together and its head is moving, it uses a poison attack that hits your characters for a bit more than 100 damage apiece, and may also cause paralysis. Its last attack mode is down when its head is held high and the wings are together. The Black Fiend spits out a razor blade that deals more than 200 damage to a single character! This battle is long and brutal. Make sure that Ronfar heals the party whenever necessary. He should also cast Divine Litany at the beginning of the battle. Cross-Boomerang and Ice Arrows both work well on it. Jean should stay out of the fight and use Star Lights to heal both Ronfar and Hiro's magic, as it gets low. Lemina should not even come close to losing her MP. You get a lot of experience for winning this battle.
Go west and up the stairs. Use the platform to get across the chasm. Hiro throws the Black Dragon Aura at the crystal and summons the Black Dragon. He gives you the Black Dragon Crest. Teleport out of the cave. Now it is time to return to the Destiny. Go back to town and heal. Then reenter the mines and go to the Destiny (I have already guided you through these caves once - you should manage to find your way out on your own. Plus I am tired of the mines!). Board the Destiny and head south and then east. Stop off at the first town - Raculi.
The Red Dragon
Enter Raculi. To the west of the entrance there is a Silver Light to be found. Talk to Leo (he is by the Statue of Althena). There is a pair of Yellow Pajamas in one of the houses. Near the item shop you'll find a Passion Fruit. Buy some new weapons and then talk to Leo a couple of times. Turns out that you have to find the Aura of Althena and use it to save the villagers. It, like Mauri, can be found in Serak Palace. The palace is to the northwest of Raculi.
Enter the palace. Follow the western wall and climb the stairs. The enemies here are quite easy compared to the Black Dragon Cave. They are not immune to anything anymore! Grab the Holy Hairpin from the chest. Remember - you can exit the level at any time to use the expensive Statue at the entrance! Exit the room and go into the hall. Go into the southern room and go up the stairs. Go into the northern hallway. Go east, then north to get a Master Helm. Then go south and around the room to get a set of Miracle Clothes. Then return to the stairs and go north. Step on the star to teleport to another location. There is a Tiger Wrap near the star on the other side. Go down the stairs. Pick up the Life Jewel and then go down the stairs. Grab the starlight. Go back to the Statue of Althena.
Go back upstairs and go into the hallway. Go east and open the chest to get a Psycho Gauntlet. Climb the stairs. Step on the glowing star to teleport to another area. Go down the stairs. Go south through the door and grab the Silver Light and Life Jewel from the chests. Go down the stairs. Use the teleporter and go through the ornate door. Open the chest to get Althena's Aura. Now return to the entrance and visit the Statue. Save the game, then go through the nearby door.
Talk to Leo and Mauri. Ronfar enters her psyche and must go through her memories. Tell her that you doubt her, and control switches to the other characters. Mauri's Id has five heads. Each of them gets a single attack per round. They deal about 50-75 damage per attack, so Jean will have to heal the party with items every now and again. The trick to winning is to attack only the flaming head with Poe Sword, Ice Arrows, Flash Blade, and Blue Dragon Palm. It takes about five attacks to destroy a head. After a head falls, control reverts to Ronfar. He must talk to Mauri again, which allows the party to destroy another head. After the last head falls, he must talk to her again. Then the main party can do the same thing to the Mauri Id's body. The body has a single attack that deals about 50 damage to everyone in the party. It dies in the same manner as the heads. Afterwards, Ronfar heals Mauri, you get the Red Dragon Aura, and Mauri points out the way to the Red Dragon Cave. Heal at the Statue, buy supplies in Raculi, then go through that door.
The enemies here are weak to ice. The Blood Slimes are strong against physical attacks, so use magic on them. You can exit to the last Statue at any time, so use it to your advantage - the enemies don't re-spawn. Go south and then east. Open the chest to get a Holy Hairpin. Then go to the south and east again to get a Healing Nut. Head west and open the chest to get a Life Jewel. Then follow the northern passage and go down the stairs.
Just south of the stairs you'll find Dyne's Armor. Keep going south and go down the stairs. On the next floor you'll have to worry about spouts of fire coming from the floor. they are easy to spot and avoid, so you don't have to worry much about them. Keep going to the west until you get the stuff out of three chests. There is a Tiger Armlet, a Passion Fruit and an Ogre Crest to be found. Now return to the stairs. Go east, then north to find a Star Light. Then go to the west and follow the tunnel to the end. Go down the stairs.
To the south of the stairs there is a Holy Water. To the west of the stairs you'll find a Water Ring. To the north there is an Angel's Tear. To the west you'll find the stairs that go up to the next floor. To the south of the stairs there is a Shield Ring. Just a bit to the west you'll find an Angel Ring. Even further to the west there is an Angel's Tear. To the south of that there is a Star Light to be found. To the west you'll be able to see the Red Fiend. I suggest saving the game, then teleporting back to the Statue of Althena to heal, and then walking back to the Red Fiend. Save your game before the battle. Make sure you equip the Water and Wind Rings before the battle starts.
The Red Fiend is really cool looking. When it has a large circle beneath its feet, it is about to throw a really strong meteor at your party! It can deal more than 200 points of damage! It deals more than that to a line of creatures when it just stands there wagging its tail. When there is a pentagram beneath its feet it brings up its attack power - use Dispel Magic right away to get rid of this enhancement! When its ear flame things are apart, it is about to do over 300 damage to a single character! This boss deals an incredible amount of damage! Right at the beginning of battle have Ronfar cast Divine Litany. Use the following attacks, as often as possible to kill him the fastest - Poe Sword, Ice Arrows, and Blue Dragon Palm. Ronfar, as always, should just concentrate on healing the party. Go through the northern door.
Throw the Red Dragon Aura at the crystal. Ruby turns into the Red Dragon and gives you the Red Dragon Crest. You can either teleport or walk out - it's up to you. I decided to raise my party's level before leaving, since I was so close anyway! As soon as you exit the Red Dragon Cave, you are greeted by a little scene involving Zophar, Ghaleon and the fake Althena. Return to a town that sells Star Lights (Vane is one such town) and restock your supply of them, as well as all the other things you could possibly need!
Rescuing Althena
Head towards Pentagulia. It is to the northwest of Raculi. On the way, Ghaleon intercepts you. He leaves soon enough without trying to battle you. Plus, Lucia seems to get more of her power back. She sics the four dragons on Pentagulia and they blow the seal away! Land at the dock there. Go north and enter Althena's Fortress.
The enemies here are either strong to magic or to physical attacks. The game tells you their weaknesses right away, so hit them where it hurts! Follow the single path to the stairs. Right next to them there is a Vitality Vial in a chest. Go down the stairs. Follow the single path and pick up the Healing Nut from the chest. Then go down the stairs. To the west of the stairs there is a Holy Water. Head south from the chest to get to the first junction. Go east to get a Holy Mace, then south to find the stairs leading down. On the fourth floor, head south and then west at the junction, then north at the next one. keep going north and enter the fifth area of Althena's Road. Open the first chest to get a Crushing Fist. Follow the northern path until you find the stairs. Go down them. You'll be treated to a cool anime scene. Climb up the other stairs when you are ready.
Go east and follow the passage until you get to a chest. Open it, grab the Master Shield, then go east and up the stairs. Go west and follow the passage until you find a Holy Bracelet. Then continue on your way and exit on the northern part of the screen. Go east, then north to get an Aura Bandanna. Then go to the west and north at the junction. Go up the stairs. Go west, and when at the junction, head east and get the Aura Robe out of the chest. Then go north and through the door.
Use the Statue and save your game. Head north and into the Goddess Tower. You'll have to battle the Fake Althena as soon as you enter. When she holds her staff up high, she is about to raise her defense - use Dispel Magic to get rid of it... When she is elongated and holding her staff before her, she is about to throw it at your party. It deals more than 200 damage to everyone in your party. She also holds it low and in front of her. When she holds it like that, she is about to stab her stinger down and poison a single character. When she prays, she is bound to do something cool, probably heal - I didn't get a chance to see it, since I beat her before she had a chance to use it! Hail to Triple Strike! Use that, Blue Dragon Palm, and Ice Arrows to kill her. Ronfar should use Divine Litany in the first round, then Tranquil Litany every other round! Go up the stairs after the battle. You might also want to visit the Statue again.
There are two chests to open on the second floor. Grab the Life Jewel and Passion Fruit from within them, then go up the stairs. There is a Silver Light on the third floor. There is an Angel's Tear and a Spirit Talisman on the fourth floor. On the fifth floor you'll find a Goddess Crest, Star Light and Tri-Ring. Head up the stairs to start the very lengthy end to Disk 2! Enjoy it, since it is absolutely awesome!
Disc 3
You'll start off in Vane. Turns out that Lucia used her power to transport the Destiny there. Talk to Lemina's mom, then head into town and talk to the others. Jean is by the Statue, Ronfar is in the library and Lemina is in the Cave of Trial. Return to Miria and then head to the roof. Talk to Leo there. Afterwards, Ghaleon appears to talk to Hiro, and taunt him! He beats Hiro into the ground, then continues to taunt him... until Hiro's friends appear!
The battle with Ghaleon is hard without magic. Fortunately, it doesn't take long for him to stop you in your tracks. After some short speeches, your party gets back the ability to use magic! Now it is time to take Ghaleon on for real! When he flashes and has his sword down, he is about to deal more than 250 damage to every character! When his sword is sparking and in front of him, he is about to attack as single character for about 150 damage. It doesn't take long to knock him down with Hiro's Triple Sword attack. Have Lemina increase Hiro and Jean's attack power. Ronfar should use Divine Litany and Tranquil Litany, as always, and Jean should start off with Slam Dance, then she should use Blue Dragon Palm! Ghaleon gives you his sword after the battle. Go into town to heal and replenish all your supplies, then talk to Ghaleon on the roof. Tell them that you can save Lucia and he'll send you off to battle Zophar.
Lucia appears and tells you to turn away. Of course you don't have to listen to her! Just walk into Zophar's Keep when you are ready. There is a Statue of Althena aboard the Destiny, in case you need to use it. The enemies in the keep are not to hard to kill. The one exception is the Hades - it is strong to almost everything but Water magic. Have Lemina equip her Ice Staff to deal with them. When in the Keep, follow the single path and open the chest in the middle of it to get a Silver Light. At the first junction head west, then southwest, west and follow the passage until it brings you to another Silver Light. Go up the nearby stairs.
Follow the path and go in the following directions at the junctions - north, then northeast. Climb the stairs and fool around with the colored thing. Now return to the second floor and go through the now open door. Pick up the Fiend Ring, but don't equip it! Further to the south you'll find a Silver Light. Continue on your way and go up the stairs when you find them. Fool around with the funny looking thing again, then return to the second floor. Now go to the southwest and get the Life Jewel from the chest. Go north and get a second Life Jewel. Then follow the southwestern path. At the next junction, go to the northeast and fool around with the glowing thing on the next floor. Return to the last junction and go to the southwest. Climb the stairs and do the same thing with the glowing thing there. Go back to the second to last junction and go north. Climb the stairs to finally get to floor three. Go south and then to the east. Then go all the way to the south and up the stairs. You'll emerge in a different part of the fortress.
Go east and get the Life Jewel from the chest. The enemies here are a bit different than the last bunch. They are definitely easier! Go north and cross the weird bridge. Go to the northern junction, then head west. Go north, then northeast. Go up the stairs. Go west, north and southeast to get a Silver Light. Go back to the second to last junction and go south. Go south at the next junction. Go to the northwest and go up the stairs. Heal and save your game in the next small area. Going to the north will result in you fighting Zophar! To prepare for this battle, make sure that Ronfar is strong to Paralysis and Charm (Tri-Ring). Everyone should be made strong to at least one element.
Zophar has three forms. When he is in his first one, watch his hands. If they are in front of him, he is about to use a muting attack on a single character. If they are down, he is about to summon some meteors to fall on you and cause more than 200 damage to your party. If he is holding them up, he does a zone attack that deals close to 250 damage to anyone caught in it. When they are at his sides, he attacks a single character for more than 300 damage. Like the next two forms, have Hiro attack with his Triple Sword. Leo should use his Earth Prayer, then use his Flash Blade. Ronfar should do the usual - Divine Litany, then heal. Lemina should just increase Hiro, Leo and Jean's attack power. Jean should use her Slam Dance ability, then the Blue Dragon Palm, helping Ronfar with the healing. Leo can also be used to heal the party, but remember that he is rather slow. It doesn't take too long to beat Zophar in this form!
The tricks to beating Zophar's second form are to just concentrate on hitting the front two hands (the one that is held up, and the one that looks to be lying on the ground) and to get the right position on the battlefield (see the second battle pic for the positions that I used). In the battle, only those two hands attack.
They use attacks that either hit one guy, a zone, or the whole party. Needless to say, keep healing! Use the same tactics as before, except forget using Slam Dance and don't attack anything other than the two hands! Once the front two hands are gone (or something like five rounds have passed), Lucia gets free and heals all your HP and MP! The third form of Zophar is by far the most difficult to beat. He gets three (four or five) attacks a round. I suggest going after the hands first - one of them occasionally heals Zophar. He also has an array of single and zone attack spells! When the hand on the right glows blue, it heals the body. When it glows black, it is about to steal all of one character's MP and heals a like amount to all remaining body parts. When it flashes red, it is about to do the same, but to HP!
The left hand is a pain - it throws really strong zone spells at your party. You have to use magic to kill it the fastest. Zophar has one really annoying attack - he does over 7000 damage to a single character - automatic death. This is how I beat him. First of all, I cast Divine Litany, Power Slam, Earth Prayer and Power Drive on Hiro. Hiro just used his Triple Sword on the right hand. Every round afterwards, Ronfar was busy healing, Jean was using her Blue Dragon Palm on the right hand, Leo was using his Rock Cobra on the left hand, and Lemina was using her Catastrophe on the whole of Zophar. Hiro is an exception - he should always use his Triple Sword on anything he attacks - right hand, left hand, then body! Jean and Leo should get used to their healing roles - it is their job to keep Lemina, Ronfar, and Hiro's MP high, and to assist Ronfar in his healing role. With Jean's speed so high, she can raise a character with an Angel Tear, and right away afterwards, Ronfar has the chance of healing the previously unconscious character. If you manage to keep your characters standing (barring the instant death attack), this battle is not too difficult and shouldn't last more than a dozen rounds. Unfortunately, Zophar is still alive at the end of the battle. both Hiro and Lucia are drawn into the battle. Hiro should just use his Triple Sword a couple of times. After a certain amount of damage (or time) has passed, Hiro and Lucia perform a final attack that ends Zophar!
With the defeat of Zophar, the game is not over! There is still much to do (for the fun of it!), and I hope that you take the time to do it, since it is a lot of fun! And once again, congratulations!
After the battle is over, Hiro and his friends travel to Vane. Talk to your friends. Talk to Luna on the roof of the guild mansion. Return to your friends. This triggers the beginning of the end of the game. After the credits roll, you'll be asked to save your game. Load up that file to play the game's Epilogue!
